Rosacea Awareness Month

Posted by with No Comments

April is Rosacea Awareness Month

There are many conditions in the medical world. Most of the less severe conditions tend to be overlooked and never even diagnosed. For the month of April KLARA Beauty Lab is devoted to spread the word about ROSACEA. We spread this awareness in hopes that anyone is doesn’t know what rosacea is may seek the appropriate treatment for symptoms that may be linked to rosacea.

Below are some frequently asked questions for those of you who are unfamiliar with rosacea. Klara also shares her expert tip on what to avoid if you are rosacea prone.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea (pronounced “roh-ZAY-sha”) is a chronic and potentially life-disruptive disorder primarily of the facial skin, often characterized by flare-ups and remissions.

– National Rosacea Society

What are signs of rosacea?

Most people begin seeing signs of Rosacea any time after the age of 30. Sometimes symptoms of rosacea are mistaken for a sunburn or an inexplicable blush. Early signs of Rosacea can be redness on the cheeks, nose, chin, or forehead that may come and go. These breakouts are reoccurring and get worse and last longer each time. Rosacea can also occur on the neck, chest, scalp or ears. As time goes on the redness tends to get worse and more persistent. In some  cases the blood vessels may even become visible.

What happens if these symptoms are left untreated?

If left untreated, pimples and bumps tend to develop. Severe cases of neglected rosacea may lead to a condition known as rhinophyma which is when the nose grows swollen and bumpy from excess tissue. The eyes may also become affected by rosasea. Many patients report irritation, burning or dryness, and the appearance of watery or bloodshot eyes.

Is there a cure for rosacea?

Although there is no cure for rosacea there are lifestyle changes as well as medical and skin therapy  available to help manage the signs and symptoms of rosacea. If you think that you may have rosacea you should see a dermatologist for consultation, diagnosis and treatment.

What causes rosacea?

The cause of rosacea is unknown. There are many theories, but none have been scientifically proven.
