    KLARA`S Oatmeal Mask

Oats absorb and remove surface dirt and impurities, they deep cleanse your pores, they scrub and gently exfoliate, and finally hydrate and soften your skin

oatmeal-mask

Things You’ll Need
5 teaspoons ground oatmeal
(or 10 teaspoons oats blended to the consistency of sea salt in a blender or food processor)
5 teaspoons milk
1 teaspoon of honey

Instructions

◦Put the honey in a microwaveable bowl and heat in the microwave on high for 10 seconds.
◦
Pour the ground oatmeal into the bowl of honey. Stir the ingredients  together gently.
• Add in a few drops of milk, stirring as you do. Continue to slowly add milk and stir until you have a paste. You want it thick, but not so thick that it will be difficult to spread over your skin
• Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes. While you do that, dampen your face with warm water.
• Spread the mixture over your face, gently massaging in an upward motion.
• 6Wait about 30 minutes, then rinse the mask off with cool water.

Massage Therapy at its Finest

iStock_000013003518_ExtraSmall.jpg

For some reason people feel as though massage therapy is a luxury. This is surprising considering all of the affordable massage services that have sprung throughout the country over the years. Access to massage therapy has become open to every budget. Just remember, you get what you pay for.

What is massage?

Massage is the application of soft-tissue manipulation techniques to the body, generally intended to reduce stress and fatigue while improving circulation. The many variations of massage account for several different techniques.

Massage is a general term for pressing, rubbing and manipulating the skin, muscles, ligaments and tendons. Depending on the massage therapist, massages may be performed using their hands, fingers, forearms, elbows, and even feet! Your treatment can range from light stroking to deep pressure depending on the technique.

Here at KLARA Beauty Lab…

We customize every treatment, including our massage sessions. Once you choose how long you want your session to last, give yourself into the hands of one of our talented massage therapists who will then determine with you, what to focus on and address during your session. Your therapist will totally customize your massage to your unique concerns and condition. You can even combine different massage styles in one session!

Swedish

This is a gentle form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping to help relax and energize you.

Shiatsu

This is a Japanese form of physiotherapy. The technique looks beyond specific pressure points, incorporating other methods such as stretching, breathing and rotating for a more whole-body approach to restoring energy balance.

Deep Tissue

This massage technique uses slower, more-forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, commonly to help with muscle damage from injuries.

Sports

This is similar to Swedish massage, but it’s geared toward people involved in sport activities to help prevent or treat injuries.

Lymphatic Drainage

This massage technique involves stimulating and increasing the lymph circulation, as well as clearing blockages with lymph nodes and vessels through out the whole body.

Reflexology

This is a form of pressure-point massage based on the fact that each part of the body’s organ and muscular function can be accessed and healed through specific nodes or reflexes in the hands and feet.

Health benefits of massage therapy…

Massage therapy is usually considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. Studies have shown that massage therapy is an effective treatment for reducing stress, pain and muscle tension.

Some studies have found that massage may also be helpful for:

  • Anxiety
  • Digestive Disorders
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia related to stress
  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Paresthesias and nerve pain
  • Soft tissue strains or injuries
  • Temporomandibular joint pain

Beyond its physical health benefits, massage therapy has become increasingly popular due to the feeling of mental and physical benefits reported.

Rosacea Awareness Month

Rosacea

April is Rosacea Awareness Month

There are many conditions in the medical world. Most of the less severe conditions tend to be overlooked and never even diagnosed. For the month of April KLARA Beauty Lab is devoted to spread the word about ROSACEA. We spread this awareness in hopes that anyone is doesn’t know what rosacea is may seek the appropriate treatment for symptoms that may be linked to rosacea.

Below are some frequently asked questions for those of you who are unfamiliar with rosacea. Klara also shares her expert tip on what to avoid if you are rosacea prone.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea (pronounced “roh-ZAY-sha”) is a chronic and potentially life-disruptive disorder primarily of the facial skin, often characterized by flare-ups and remissions.

– National Rosacea Society

What are signs of rosacea?

Most people begin seeing signs of Rosacea any time after the age of 30. Sometimes symptoms of rosacea are mistaken for a sunburn or an inexplicable blush. Early signs of Rosacea can be redness on the cheeks, nose, chin, or forehead that may come and go. These breakouts are reoccurring and get worse and last longer each time. Rosacea can also occur on the neck, chest, scalp or ears. As time goes on the redness tends to get worse and more persistent. In some  cases the blood vessels may even become visible.

What happens if these symptoms are left untreated?

If left untreated, pimples and bumps tend to develop. Severe cases of neglected rosacea may lead to a condition known as rhinophyma which is when the nose grows swollen and bumpy from excess tissue. The eyes may also become affected by rosasea. Many patients report irritation, burning or dryness, and the appearance of watery or bloodshot eyes.

Is there a cure for rosacea?

Although there is no cure for rosacea there are lifestyle changes as well as medical and skin therapy  available to help manage the signs and symptoms of rosacea. If you think that you may have rosacea you should see a dermatologist for consultation, diagnosis and treatment.

What causes rosacea?

The cause of rosacea is unknown. There are many theories, but none have been scientifically proven.

Klara’s tip on rosacea:

As a highly experience skin therapist, Klara is very familar with skin suffering from rosacea. By being actively affiliated with the American Acne and Rosacea Society, she plans to continue her commitment to changing lives with a strong understanding of problematic skin.

*When you are rosacea prone, you should definitely avoid things that increase your blood pressure, like:

  • Saunas
  • Steam rooms
  • Excessive workouts
  • Alcohol consumption
  • Nicotine
  • Sun bathing
  • Spicy food
  • Rubbing and scrubbing the area (avoid mechanical forms of exfoliation)

Special Deal:

Throughout the month of April KLARA Beauty Lab is offering a special facial combo for sensitive, rosacea prone skin: Klara’s Signature Facial + Rosacea Treatment + FREE Skinceuticals Redness Neutralizer for just the facial price – $250

Discover the Healing Power of T O U C H

massage-reiki

I Pledge to Embrace the Power of Touch

From the Spafinder Website:
I will recharge myself and others through the simple act of giving or receiving a hug, foot rub or five-minute massage.

The power of touch is known to bestow deep restorative emotional and physical healing . On a day-to-day basis, touch is known to minimize anxiety and stress in individuals. There are many ways you can put touch to work for your overall wellness. The most popular form of touch therapy is massage but that is only the start. Here at Klara Beauty Lab, we offer a signature massage that is tailor-made to your preference and needs, after our massage therapist assesses your stress points and goals from the session. A good session of touch therapy can lessen your pain, irritation, fatigue, and uplift your mood to ward off depression.

Of the many forms of touch therapy, we believe in the power of Reiki that uses the “spiritually directed life energy” based on an Eastern tradition. Klara Chrzuszcz is a master teacher of Reiki and has been practicing Reiki on her clients for years to rejuvenate their mind, body, soul, and senses during her therapy sessions. In her words, “Reiki can have a life-changing experience on an individual. I want to share my expertise and the power of this universal energy with those I come across, so I perform Reiki therapy in every session to give my clients the benefit of overall wellness.”

We love Reiki because of its healing health benefits, like stress reduction and relaxation, and improving the body’s natural balance. It also aids better sleep, reduces blood pressure, cleanses toxins from the body, can help chronic health problems, and help your body recover from drugs.

Extend your hand today, and give and receive the healing power of T O U C H! Click here for more on SpaFinder Wellness Week pledges. We also have a special 20% off promotion on Spafinder if you want to experience Klara’s expert touch therapy or any of her services. Visit us on Spafinder here

Silence: A Beautiful Gift

Posted by with No Comments

Silence

Open your mouth only if what you are going to say is more beautiful than silence. – Arabic Proverb

We are taking the SpaFinder Wellness Week Pledge and committing to find 10 minutes a day away from all electronics and other distractions, and enjoy the  q u i e t .

In today’s society we spend most of our time in front of some kind of screen… whether its a tv, iPad, laptop, checking emails, or texting on your phone – chances are you’re guilty as charged. Research shows that the average amount of time adults in the United States spend with media has reached almost 700 minutes a day! Can you believe this is how most adults are spending 11 hours or more of their day?

The Cost of Overstimulation: More scientists now believe that this endless time spent with the Internet, cell phones and TV is making us impatient, impulsive, forgetful, unfocused and even more narcissistic — that it is profoundly changing our brains and the very way we think and behave. For instance, scientists argue that all these “message spurts” play to a primitive impulse to respond to immediate opportunities and threats, which excite us and produce a dopamine squirt — that can be addictive. When “unplugged,” people feel bored.

-SpaFinder

Wow! I am not exaggerating when I say you would be giving yourself a true gift just by finding a few moments in a day to be still and silent. With all of the negative implications of over stimulation that scientist have researched, it is a disservice not to “unplug” yourself for at LEAST 10 minutes a day. It isn’t too late to join us in stepping out of our hectic busy lives to be silent. Find out more about the Wellness Week Pledge and let us know how you’re committing to your mind, body, soul and senses. Connect with us via Twitter or Facebook!
